Wedding recap
Okay, I think I’m finally over everything that happened this week that I can talk/vent about it without getting too worked up.
I had about three emotional breakdowns all weekend, so that should give you an idea of how it went. I won’t give a complete rundown of the events, but I will hit some of the ones that contributed to my breakdown.
Friday: woke up at 7 a.m. to start baking the cookies. mishaps ensued, the cookies took longer than expected but somehow all 600 got baked. I missed my bridesmaid’s lunch, missed half of the rehearsal, then missed most of the rehearsal dinner. I missed most of the rehearsal dinner because my mom accidentally brought the wrong kind of extension cord that I needed for the laptop and projector. So I drove all around Steiner Ranch looking for a cord, and then ended up going to the HEB at Four Points. The slide show then decided not to work, though I had tested it at work the previous day and it worked perfectly. I got Andy (work person) on the phone to help me out, and at long last it worked. When I got to Lakeway Resort, I decided to walk around and clear my head because I was so upset about how the day went. I happened to stumble upon all the bridesmaids and groomsmen at the bar on their way down to the hot tub. I left my bathing suit at home so I just sat with my feet in the water, but left after an hour. I heard they ended up staying out until 4:30 a.m.
Saturday: woke up at 8 a.m. and was out the door with my mom to come to my apartment and pick up all the cookies. we loaded up and were on our way back when we had to detour to Lakeline Mall and pick up a couple of tuxes that never got picked up. we got back to the hotel, hauled all the cookies up to my aunt’s room, and started assembling the bags. I had to go track down Paige’s mom who had the ribbon and tags to close the bags. I was sent in circles for the next hour trying to get the damn tags…meanwhile I kept bumping into the bridesmaids who were out by the pool, lounging and enjoying a drink. I finally got the tags, only to find that Susan (Paige’s mom) never cut the ribbon and put them through the hole like she said…so that set me back another hour. finally all 200 bags were made, I rushed down to my hair appointment and then up to my makeup appointment. the makeup artist then proceeded to tell me everything wrong with my face and every product that I should buy to help with my problems…thanks lady. we got to the church about 30 minutes late, and I had to rush to change into my dress so that I could take pictures with my mom and brothers. when I got back to the bride’s room I was sent out of the room by Susan with all the flowers for the groomsmen and ushers…somehow I didn’t think that was my job. meanwhile, all the bridesmaids were taking getting ready pictures with Paige. when I got done with that, the bridesmaids decided to finally talk to me – but only to ask me if their hair/makeup looked okay and to have me take pictures of them. after the bridal party was introduced at the reception, I set me stuff down at my assigned table. when it was time to sit, I noticed that all the bridesmaids sat down at my table, including in the chair where my stuff was. luckily the maid of honor’s date/usher didn’t end up making it, so I got to sit with my brothers at the head table…but still, my stuff was there. I was doing fine until at one point in the night I was standing on the dance floor taking a picture of my mom when I saw the bridesmaids gather around Paige for a picture…a professional picture at that…and I was in arm’s reach and they didn’t even ask me to be in the picture. I got really upset, but luckily that was near the end of the night so I just held it in. at the end of the night, I sat in the hallway for awhile and just cried. I then went to the bar with my mom, aunts, and brothers…I looked out the window and saw all the bridesmaids and groomsmen (with the exception of my brothers) down at the hot tub.
Sunday: somehow my car got loaded down with all the tuxes as I was asked to return them since I live near Lakeline Mall – you know, because I haven’t done enough all weekend. I decided to treat myself to Whataburger after that, and got home to discover they forgot my fries – something so stupid like that made me cry all over again. ugh…i’m such a crybaby.
Anywho, I was just upset because this was my first time to be a bridesmaid, and I didn’t even get to enjoy it. I missed everything because I was baking those stupid cookies and working on that stupid slide show. Then I was just ignored by all the other girls and wasn’t invited to hang out with them…they hardly even spoke to me. While I was running around getting things done, they were out enjoying the sun and drinks. I think I might have just been stressed and am overreacting about it all, but I was hurt.
Okay, done boring you.
Dress pictures
Okie dokie…I’ve got pictures for y’all. Even though the wedding is in a week and I’m sure you’ll see lots of pictures on facebook/myspace/here, I figured I’d post what the dress looks like before my body gets in it.
It’s not that bad now that it’s been altered and fits right. It’s still a little clingy since it’s a silk material. I was under the impression that the dresses would look like these designs (but long) that Paige’s sister did (part of her fashion line).
I think these dresses are super cute, and thought the whole time that the dress would be completely chiffon. Oh well.
And while on the subject of dresses…Denise asked me, Staci, and her sister Diana for help finding lime green bridesmaid dresses. I did some looking and came up with these two styles from J.Crew. Right now they are in the lead, and we have already ordered one of each to see which one looks better on all of us.
Okay, I gotta go. Hope y’all have a good weekend. Happy birthday weekend to Brett and Kash Smash!!
Toodles!
